Powerball jackpot at $291 million: Purchase your entries today

The Powerball jackpot is up for grabs. Today’s drawing is for a whopping $291 million prize. Michigan players can

Playing Powerball requires you to pick five white ball numbers between 1 and 69 with no repeats, plus one red Powerball number between 1 and 26.

Below, we’ll cover the most commonly asked questions about Powerball.

One Powerball “line” costs $2. A “line” means one selection of five white ball numbers and one Powerball. Consider a “line” to be one entry. You can buy multiple entries if you wish, and each one costs $2.

For an additional $1 per line, you can add Power Play, which multiplies any non-jackpot winnings.

If you buy a ticket in a retail location, you can also add Double Play for $1 per line, which enters your numbers into a second chance drawing that occurs about 30-40 minutes after the core drawing. The top prize in Double Play drawings is $10 million.

Powerball drawings take place at 11 p.m. ET on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Tickets are sold up until 15 minutes before a drawing. For example, you can purchase tickets for tonight’s drawing until 10:45 p.m. Any tickets purchased after that cutoff will be applied to the next scheduled drawing.

You must be 18 or older to play the Michigan Lottery. If you play online, your ID and social security number will be required upon sign-up to confirm you are of legal age.

Playing in-store will require a valid government-issued photo ID.

The biggest-ever Powerball jackpot was won in November of 2022. A lucky player from California brought home a $2.04 billion prize. It remains the only $2+ billion prize ever awarded by Powerball or Mega Millions.

Lottery winners get paid based on the amount they win. Small wins—anything below $600—will be paid directly to your account if you purchased entries online.

Winning the jackpot is a completely different story. Payment options include an annuity paid over 30 years, increasing 5% each year, or a lump sum payment. The former pays the full jackpot amount (pre-tax) while the lump sum will be about half of the advertised jackpot amount.

You can purchase entries online or at a participating retail location. Michigan players can

Buying online is the easiest and fastest way. You can download the Michigan Lottery app or visit the website. Sign up with our link and you’ll be able to purchase tickets within minutes. We recommend first-time users create an account well before the drawing to ensure they can log all their details in time. Signing up can take 10 minutes or so.

Alternatively, you can visit a participating Michigan Lottery retailer. There are hundreds of them in the state, including gas stations and convenience stores. Playing at a retailer involves getting a play slip and filling it out manually. It’s kind of like taking a test in school, only you’re not graded and you could win money! Fill out your play slip with your selected numbers, then return it to the cashier or the lottery machine to get your ticket. Sign your ticket and keep it in a safe place.

When playing online, you can check your tickets automatically for wins. You might even get an email notification if you have the proper settings enabled.

You can also visit the Michigan Lottery website and use its “Number Tools” page to find the latest results. This page allows you to type in specific numbers and check for wins or plug in a date range to find winning numbers from within that period.
