Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing yielded no winners. That means the jackpot rose yet again. Now, the prize is at a whopping $720 million.

The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Friday at 11 p.m. ET. Michigan Lottery players can get in on the drawing by purchasing a ticket online or at a participating retailer.

You can use the bonus to purchase entries into the Mega Millions drawing or play many other games.

Here are a few of the basic things you should know about the Mega Millions lottery game in Michigan and beyond.

Mega Millions is a lottery game offered by the Multi-State Lottery Association. It’s available in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the US Virgin Islands.

Michigan is one of the states that offers Mega Millions tickets. In the Great Lake State, you can buy entries online or at participating stores such as gas stations and grocers.

The only states that don’t offer Mega Millions are:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Hawaii
  • Nevada
  • Utah

Michigan allows Mega Millions purchases online from the Michigan Lottery website or mobile app. That means you can buy your tickets without leaving the comfort of your home. Of course, retail options are available, too. You can get tickets at local grocery stores, gas stations, and other locations.

At its most basic, Mega Millions requires you to pick 5 white ball numbers between 1 and 70, then a single gold Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Matching all five white balls and the Mega Ball number wins you the jackpot.

The Michigan lottery lets you do an “easy pick” option if you choose. You can purchase 3 tickets $6, 5 tickets ($10), or 10 tickets ($20) and let the system randomly select your numbers. You can also pick them manually.

For an additional dollar per ticket, you can add Megaplier, which multiplies non-jackpot wins by 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Eastern Time. You can purchase tickets up until 15 minutes before the drawing takes place.

If you’re buying tickets online for the first time, we recommend doing so before the deadline. Setting up your account can take a few minutes, and you don’t want to miss the drawing because you were creating your profile.

Yes. You can purchase many tickets for Mega Millions. The Michigan Lottery offers options for multi-ticket purchases. You can also buy multiple tickets from participating retailers.

For example, if you deposit the following amounts, you’ll get the corresponding bonus:

  • $100 deposit: $50 bonus
  • $200 deposit: $100 bonus
  • $300 deposit: $100 bonus

Note that you can deposit more than $200, but anything above that will still just get you the maximum $100 bonus.

Mega Millions jackpots are paid in one of two ways: a 30-year annuity or a lump-sum payment.

The 30-year annuity is paid out over that time period, with payments increasing 5% each year. The lump-sum payment, on the other hand, is the present cash value of the prize. Lump-sum payments are more immediate, but you will get less money overall.
