Hard Rock International wants to close The Mirage and renovate the entire three-wing hotel and casino. The company will invest billions in improving and making the property larger starting in late 2023 or 2024.

Ontario has more internet gambling operators than most US online casino states. New Jersey has the most with 39 "internet gaming sites" and 25 "online sports pools". New York has launched most of its new online gambling apps in New Hampshire. Ontario's market added private operators on April 4. In less than a month, Ontario approved nearly as many operators as are live in the Garden State.

For the first time in history, players in Ontario will have a chance to play at fully regulated and safe Ontario online casinos. The first gaming licenses have been issued and the operators are preparing for launch on April 4, 2022. Operators who have applied for a gaming license will also have the option to operate while waiting for their licenses to be approved.

Both Niagara Falls casinos are shut down after midnight tonight. New restrictions limit smaller facilities to 50% capacity. The limit for the larger ones is 50%. The limits for Niagara's two casinos – Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino and Resort – are 1,000 people. The two are owned by the Ontario government but operated by Connecticut-based Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment.

Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas closed in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new owners want to rehire up to 600 of the 1,200 former workers. They are recruiting through community agencies, job fairs and an online portal. San Manuel Band of Mission Indians acquired the 700-room Palms this year for $650 million from Red Rock Resorts.

Audit of the Auditor General of Ontario claims the Internet Gaming in Ontario market may violate federal law. The Ministry of Attorney General claims it will function well as is. Competition for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is now expected to occur in Q1 2022.

Casino Niagara opened on Dec. 9, 1996. It was expected to close in 2004, but it was not. Now it's a survivor. Its cross-town cousin, Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, employs about 3,500 people. 728 people have worked there for all 25 years. The casinos have paid out $4.5 billion in payroll and benefits since 1996 and generated $168 million in payments to the City of Niagara. They purchase goods and services from about 275 businesses, mostly local, which creates spinoff jobs. They support 161 local charities and not-for-profits.

Casino Niagara was lit up in yellow and green last night to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The casino was built on the former site of Maple Leaf Village amusement park. It was opened on December 6, 1996. Fallsview Casino Resort was planned to open in 2004, but Casino Niagara stayed put. Both casinos are owned by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. They are run by Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment based out of Connecticut.

Mohegan withdraws plans to develop and operate a $9.3bn Greek casino in Greece. The company will focus on its $1.6bn Inspire Korea project in Seoul. It expects to open in Q2 2023.

Ontario is planning to allow private companies to offer online gambling to its residents. The province is following the lead of European countries and U.S. states like New Jersey. Sports media players such as Rogers Communications and Torstar Corp. are also interested in the sector. It is a paradigm shift from criminalizing online betting to decriminalizing it. Yaniv Spielberg, co-founder and chief strategy officer at Bragg Gaming Group, a Toronto-based gaming technology provider, explains.

MGM Resorts is buying The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for $1.625 billion. The deal is smart on many levels. It keeps MGM's assets-light strategy. MGM gets its fair share of customer traffic from the baby boomer generation. Since it opened in 2010, The cosmopolitan has become a hipster haven. It's possible that MGM could persuade some of its younger customers to move up to the likes of Bellagio. Once the deal goes through, MGM will have only one property - MGM Springfield in Massachusetts. A real estate company will buy Springfield by the end of the year.

August's gross gaming revenues for Atlantic City casinos increased by 31% year-on-year to $427.6 million. August of 2020 was the first full month of restored casino operations following a full coronavirus-related shutdown that lasted 108 days.

Wynn Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resort International do not plan to submit a proposal for the first-ever casino in downtown Chicago. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is still confident that more bidders will submit proposals before the new deadline.

Ontario is making progress towards privatization of online gambling. AGCO released a guide for interested companies. It will begin accepting applications in the coming weeks. The province expects to launch the market in December.

Fallsview Casino and Resort and Casino Niagara reopened last month. Casino Falls has extended its hours and brought back to life table games. Ontario is suffering from COVID-19 and the threat of new health restrictions hangs over the province.

Chicago's request for proposals for a casino resort was rejected. The deadline for responses has been pushed back to October 29. Las Vegas-based companies won't be bidding. Caesars Entertainment won’t be in the hunt because it already has several properties in Illinois and Indiana. Waukegan, Illinois, is considering bids for its own casino. The maximum tax rate in Nevada is 6.75 percent. Illinois would impose 40 percent on gross gaming revenue from the Chicago resort. It's higher than in other states. There's also a new gaming expansion in Wawkega.

Both Niagara Falls casinos reopened on July 23. Fallsview Casino and Resort was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Casino Niagara's initial reopening hours were 10 am to 2 am daily. Live table games have been added to both casinos. Both casinos are still being held to 50 per cent capacity.

Casinos Austria is the casino partner of Nagasaki. Nagasa is one of the first three locations in Japan to host an integrated resort. Casinos Austrian has revealed what the IR might look like.

Both Niagara Falls casinos eligible to reopen in Stage Three. Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino reopened on June 10. Fallsview Casino and Niagara Niagara have been closed since March 2020. Ontario casinos will be able to open when Ontario hits Stage 3.

Chicago is planning to build a casino resort. Four gaming companies responded to the RFP. The city has a 40 percent gaming tax rate. Chicago attracted nearly 60 million domestic visitors in 2019. The area has more than 9.5 million residents. There are 130 daily nonstop flights from New York City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. to Chicago. It has two major airports. A pandemic could affect the development of a Chicago casino. Illinois Legislature reduced the gaming rate for the proposed resort last year. Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Resort International, Florida’s Hard Rock International and Chicago- based Rush Street Gaming responded.

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment expects that a luxury casino resort on the site of the former Athens airport will be ready by 2026. The consortium of Mohegin and GEK Terna won a Greek tender for the construction and 30-year operation of a casino.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is buying the Palms Casino Resort off the Las Vegas Strip for $650 million. It will be the second tribal enterprise to enter the Vegas market this year. Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment opened a casino at Virgin Hotels Las Las Angeles in March. The tribe operates its flagship San. Manuel Casino in Highland, California, several hotels throughout California and an office building in Washington, D.C.

Circa Resort & Casino opened in November. It's the first Las Vegas resort-casino built from the ground up in four decades. The adults-only property is imbued with high-tech but pays homage to the vintage Golden Era of Sin City.
