Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook made its debut and welcomed bettors with the help of UNLV Rebels and Cincinnati Bengals star Elbert “Ickey” Woods.
The brand-new sportsbook is located at Mohegan Casino inside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook is operated by Mohegan Casino Las Vegas.
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is a hotel-casino in Paradise, Nevada, east of the Las Vegas Strip. It previously operated as the Hard Rock Hotel from 1995 to 2020 before closing for renovations to be rebranded as Virgin Hotels. The casino portion is known as Mohegan Sun Casino.
The gambling floor is operated by Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, an affiliate of the Mohegan Tribe, making it the first Native American tribe to operate a Las Vegas casino.
There is already a large supply of sports betting locations in Las Vegas, but gambling on sports is booming. According to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the Silver State’s sportsbooks won $446,698,000 from sports gamblers in 2022.
According to regulators, there were 183 “distinct licensed locations” for sports betting in 2022.
Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook opened just in time for Super Bowl LVII. The sportsbook is the first venture into Nevada by Betfred, one of the largest independent bookmakers in the world, founded in 1967 by brothers Fred and Peter Done.

Ickey Woods placed the ceremonial first bet on Philadelphia to win the Big Game (-125). The bet lost when the Kansas City Chiefs won 38-35.
