Nevada does not have a state lottery or access to big-ticket multistate lotteries. Internet gambling is barely on Nevada's radar. Lotterie and iGaming were topics at the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States conference. i gaming is legal in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan and Connecticut. Gross gaming revenue for iCasinos from January through November 2022 is up 36.3 percent year-over-year to an estimated $4.5 billion. igaming industry analyst Carlo Santarelli of Deutsche Bank reports that it's growing.

In post-COVID America, state revenue isn't as important as it once was. New York, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Ohio, Colorado, Louisiana and Kansas are looking at iGaming bill introductions. Casino companies are resistant to i gaming because they fear an abundance of online customers would cannibalize patronage of brick-and-mortar properties. igaming proponents say law enforcement can track and stop illegal online operators easier. The American Gaming Association is pressing for this. iGambling is an opportunity for some states.

NY could net $400M if pols legalized internet casino gaming. New York is on the cusp of opening up the bidding process for three valuable, downstate commercial casino licenses. New Yorkers are expected to make at least $1.5B for all three casino licences. iGaming allows individuals to play slot and table games on their phones. The state's already booming mobile sports wagering industry netted over $300M in six months. Nevada allows a limited option, by permitting online poker. In 2021, combined tax revenue from those six states amounted to an industry worth a total of $970M.

New York generated over $347 million of taxes from online sports wags from January through June. DiNapoli says the city should continue to identify areas for savings and track how its services are delivered.
