The Caledonia Catch the Ace progressive jackpot is “approaching that magic six-figure number,” said Bill Imeson, a volunteer with Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk.

The Sept. 14 draw saw the guaranteed progressive jackpot swell to $88,592.

With Jason Korobkin’s selection of envelope 22 revealing the two of clubs instead of the ace of spades, the estimated jackpot for the upcoming Sept. 21 draw is now at $95,000.

Korobkin took home the weekly draw prize of $4,336.

To date, the fundraiser has brought in over $147,000 for the Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk.

The Caledonia progressive jackpot isn’t the only one in the county that’s been steadily growing. Down the road in Fisherville, the Lions Club’s Winning Wednesdays Catch the Ace now has a guaranteed progressive jackpot of just over $34,000.

At the Sept. 13 draw, Darren Topp’s choice of envelope 10 revealed the 10 of diamonds, which won him the weekly prize of $2,154.

After the draw, the Fisherville Lions Club posted on social media, thanking the Fisherville Hotel and Tavern for hosting the weekly draws to date.

However, “as our crowds grew weekly, we had to make the decision to activate our anticipated plan to move over to our larger facility at the Fisherville Lions Community Centre (18 Main Ave. W.),” the post read. The first draw at the new location will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Tickets for the Fisherville draw will only be available for purchase inside the centre from a designated volunteer between 4:30 and 7:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Community Support Centre is only selling tickets inside the Caledonia Legion (29 Caithness St. E.) on Thursdays from 2 to 7:40 p.m., with the draw at 8 p.m.

With both draws, ticket holders do not have to be present to win; the livestreams of the draws can be watched on the respective organization’s Facebook pages.

With both fundraisers, the tickets cost $10 each or three for $20 — cash only.
