Bally's has submitted its application for a casino license to the Illinois Gaming Board. The company wants to build a $1.7 billion venue in the River West neighborhood of Chicago. If approved, Bally’s would operate a temporary casino at Medinah Temple in River North while the permanent venue is built on the former Tribune Publishing plant grounds. Baly”s was approved by the Chicago City Council on May 25. The city hopes the Bly“s casino will generate $800 million in annual revenue at full maturity and generate an estimated $200 million tax revenue for the city.

Bally's submitted an application for a casino license in downtown Chicago. The company gave the city a $40 million upfront payment. It hopes to open the Medinah Temple temporary venue in the second quarter of next year. Bally’s is planning to build a permanent casino in two phases. First phase is a buildout featuring 2,700 slot machines and 95 table games. Second phase would add 700 slot machine and 78 table game games, and six dining venues.
