LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — Officers were forced to discharge their firearms, wounding an individual after he brandished a gun at a Vegas casino.

Law enforcement were tailing a suspected robber close to the intersections of Valley View Boulevard and Flamingo Road, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). The incident took place around 11 p.m. Thursday night. The precise location wasn’t revealed, however officers were observed at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino’s parking garage.

The officers aimed to apprehend the individual, but the situation escalated when the suspect armed himself. Responding to the threat, the officers discharged their firearms, hitting the suspect, as per an LVMPD statement.

The wounded suspect was quickly transported to UMC where he’s currently receiving medical attention. As of this morning, his condition is reported as stable. No additional injuries were reported in this encounter.

The identity of the involved officers has not been released, in accordance with the department’s protocol. They will be identified after a 48-hour period.
