Indiana Casino Revenue Drops Below $200 Million For June

Indiana casinos are still raking in the bucks, but summer is seeing the state experience a slight swoon. The Hoosier State's 12 commercial casinos combined for $197,197.354 in total gaming win (i.e. revenue) last month. That was a 6.9% decline and a 3.8% fall in a year-over-year comparison to June 2021 ($204.95 million).

Vigo casino could be ready by December 2023

Bulldozers started moving dirt shortly after a June 21 groundbreaking to start construction of the Queen of Terre Haute Resort Casino. The project is worth $260 million and includes a casino, a 10-story hotel, 1,000 slot machines and 50 table games, and a sportsbook. Construction has been delayed due to issues with supplies and the FAA's review of flight path hazards. It's expected to be completed in December 2023. The 400,00-square foot Queen is the newest casino approved in Indiana. it's forecast to bring $190 million in annual economic impact and create 500 jobs.

The industry is on pace to smash its annual record of $43.65 billion set in 2019. States that offer some form of gaming generate tax revenue to help solve a multitude of problems. Nevada casinos collected $3.683 billion for the third quarter of 2020. The total won in Nevada in the quarter was 26.5 percent of nationwide third-quarter amount.

He has since sold his shares in the casino and agreed to permanently relinquish his gaming license. Live dealers weren't going to be permitted until July 2021, but that date was moved up by 18 months in a gambling bill signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb in May. The bill also includes the legalization of sports betting and allowing construction of new casinos in Gary and Terre Haute.
