Lotto: Tips and tricks that could win you millions

Many dream of winning the lottery, but there are many methods that people have used in order to win. Is it coincidence or a method to the madness?

A Sydney dad thought a call to tell him he had won $1 million was a hoax after being bombarded by nuisance calls in recent weeks.

The man held the only division one winning entry nationally in the Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw.

When an official from The Lott called the man he was heading home from taking his dog for a walk — completely oblivious to the fact he had become an overnight millionaire.

“Did you say you’re calling from The Lott? This better not be a hoax,” he exclaimed. “I have been receiving a lot of nuisance calls lately. I hope this isn’t another one of those, because this would be great if what you are telling me is true.”

The Sutherland Shire man said he was “shell shocked by the news” and wondered if he was dreaming.

“A millionaire – I can’t believe it. It won’t sink in. This is crazy. It’s a dream come true,” he said.

“I just sent a photo to my family of the win and they can’t believe it either. I can imagine the kids are already writing their wish lists.”

His wife also joined the call and joked there’s no way they’re getting a divorce anymore.

“And there’s no way I am leaving my husband now he’s a millionaire. I am writing my wish list now too,” she said.

The winner revealed he plans to share his prize with his family, renovate his home and go on some holidays.

But he admitted he wanted to be sensible with his prize and seek financial advice.

“I need time to really plan what I am going to do,” he said.

“Most of it will be spent on the kids, which I am sure they will be very happy about. My wife wants to do some renovations around the house and I would love to go overseas in the future.

“In the meantime, I might go on some fishing trips here in Australia.”

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw were 7, 34, 22, 44, 15 and 19, while the supplementary numbers were 17 and 4.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 226 so far this calendar year, including 58 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In 2020, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 93 millionaires across Australia.

During this time, there were 101 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $100 million.
