Great Canadian Gaming Corp. has yet to reach a new agreement deal with unionized casino workers. Over 2,000 union members agreed that a strike should take place if an agreement is not made by Friday. Strike is imminent at eight Great Canadian gaming Corp.'s casinos in Ontario.
Unifor Local 1090 represents employees from several casinos in Ontario. They want to discuss wages and benefits, slot games, security, cashiering, and table game staff pensions. Union members were affected by casino closures and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Great Canadian Gaming Corp. has 25 casinos across Canada. Apollo Global Management acquired the company in late 2021. The company has until midnight on Friday to cut a deal. The union is yet to comment. It would not be surprising to see some sort of deal is made leading up to that deadline.
