Milwaukee's No. 1 tourist destination, Potawatomi Casino Hotel unveiled its latest renovations Thursday in an ongoing $190 million project. The recent additions include the casino's largest gaming area with over 600 new slot machines and 16 gaming tables. A brand-new bar and lounge sit in the middle of the new "ElevenHundred" gaming floor and a VIP club offers high-rollers a private lounge, bar, and kitchen. "When they walk through those doors they're going to be amazed, they're going to be wowed...better than any casino in the Midwest and I'd even say better than Vegas," Potawatomi Casino Hotel CEO, Dominic Ortiz said. The new gaming floor also features Street Eatz, a new NYC-inspired restaurant and bar serving up Milwaukee staples; brats, barbecue, street tacos, brews and slushy cocktails. When guests walk into the casino on the second level they'll notice Cream City Coffee Co. now across from the casino's brand-new Rock & Brews restaurant, opened up last month by Hall of Famers Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from the iconic band KISS. Ortiz says this new project helps to elevate the casino as a premier entertainment destination and bring more traffic to Milwaukee. It's an edge Ortiz thinks will help in competing with new casinos popping up in Illinois. "We see the competition on the borders and, you know, that does hurt, you know, so we had to invest and elevate our game to protect the jobs and the revenues and the city and what we're doing," he said.Ortiz says this new project created 250 additional jobs to its workforce of more than 2,000 employees. The $190 million project spans 114,000 square feet and began in May 2022. The final phase of renovations is currently underway to transform the old Northern Lights Theater into a Sportsbook, scheduled to open next year.
