Mets Owner Steve Cohen Continues to Press for Citi Field Casino
Steve Cohen is pushing for a casino near Citi Field. The project has been stalled for years. New York Mayor Eric Adams is a supporter of the project.
Steve Cohen bought the Mets and wants to build a Citi field casino. He has been busy since January when NY Governor released a budget plan. In January he invited the Mayor and other city bigwigs to review a redevelopment proposal for Willets Point. A week later he sent Las Vegas Sands CEO Rob Goldstein to press the mayor's office to support a casino in Queens.
Steve Cohen is looking for a partner for the Citi Field casino. Hard Rock is the front runner. MGM Resorts has a slots-only casino in Yonkers and is hoping to get one of NY's three downstate licenses to operate a full-fledged casino, while Resort World/Genting is planning to expand its slots parlor at Aqueduct in Queens.
