The current Mega Millions jackpot is at $1.25 billion—nearing the all-time record—and the next drawing is scheduled for Friday, August 4.

If someone were to win the Mega Millions jackpot on Friday night, it would be the fourth biggest jackpot win in the lottery game’s history.

Notably, you need to purchase your ticket(s) before the cut-off at 9:59 p.m. ET on Friday night before the drawing. Cost is $2 per play, and if you choose to play the Megaplier option, the total cost of each play is $3.

The most-recent Mega Millions drawing this past Tuesday saw numbers 8, 24, 30, 45, and 61 get picked, along with 12 in the Mega Ball slot, and 4 in the Megaplier slot.

To play Mega Millions, begin by buying your ticket(s) on the PA Lottery website or by visiting a local lottery retailer (i.e., convenient store, grocery store, gas station). Then, choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one number—your Mega Ball selection—from 1 to 25.

You always have the option to allow the terminal to randomly select your numbers via Quick Pick as well.

If you don’t feel like picking numbers for each drawing, feel free to pick numbers up to 13 weeks (26 drawings) in advance. You may also replay an existing ticket to make the same purchase starting with the next drawing.

Once your numbers are picked and your ticket(s) are purchased, watch the drawing on your local TV news station. See below:

The Megaplier option, which costs an additional $1 per ticket, will increase your non-jackpot winnings. A number between 2 and 5 will be drawn just prior to the official numbers drawing, this is the Megaplier number. If you win a non-jackpot prize from your Mega Millions ticket, and you played the Megaplier option, your prize is multiplied by the Megaplier number drawn.
