Alvin Chau is a well-known gambling executive in Macau. He was arrested on a warrant accusing him of illegal gambling on the Chinese mainland. Chau was removed from his position as the chairman of Macao's Suncity junket in December 2021.

Chau was arrested in China on suspicion of illegal gambling activities. He was also accused of money laundering. Questions were also raised over his interests in the Philippines. Suncity junket was one of Macau's most successful prior to the coronavirus pandemic. It generated 25% of 2019 gaming revenue in Macao, which totaled $36 billion.

Chau's junket is not the only one facing legal issues in Macau. Levo Chan was arrested on suspicion of criminal organization, money laundering, and illegal gambling. In the Philippines, a battle between state authorities and a Japanese Mogul led to an attempted coup of the famous Okada Manila resort. Over the weekend, 60 Vietnamese citizens escaped from a Cambodian casino.
