After being closed for more than two years, Horseshoe Lake Charles officially opened its doors Dec. 12 and celebrated its grand opening becoming the first riverboat casino to come to land in the Lake Charles market.

Now owned by Caesars Entertainment, the former Isle of Capri Lake Charles came ashore in a brand-new, land-based 60,000-square-foot property build out. The property will showcase new rooms, restaurants and a variety of entertainment, which includes 1,000 slot machines and table games, as well as an official WSOP Poker Room, an all-new Caesars Sportsbook and 253 hotel rooms.

In addition to a wide palette of food and beverage outlets that will be available on day one, Horseshoe Lake Charles will bring multi-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay to the Pelican State with the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak in mid-2023.

Following the ribbon cutting, guests were invited inside to watch legendary sports bettor, “Mattress Mack” Jim McIngvale, make the ceremonial first bet. McIngvale brought $1 million in cash and placed it on the Houston Cougars to win the NCAA Tournament at 8-1.
