Double Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso says he is surprised by how fast the Las Vegas circuit looks, with F1 heading there next season.

The sport will have three races in the United States next year, with Austin being joined by Miami and Vegas.

Indeed, it’s clear F1 has made a concerted effort to promote the sport across the pond and they appear to be really starting to get on board with the sport now in the States.

Vegas is naturally going to attract lots of interest, too, and the drivers have all had a look at the layout of the circuit which will race past famous hotels and casinos at some of the highest speeds recorded on the entire calendar.

Indeed, Alonso could not hide how fast he felt the track was going to be when we head there in 2023:

“It’s going to be super fast,” he remarked in a video released by Alpine.

“I thought it was much slower.

“I’m surprised about the speed that you will get on those.

“I thought it was more like Baku, the style, with a lot of corners and maybe one long straight. But this is all straights.”

It certainly looks a mega-quick track and, hopefully, F1 can put on a show that befits the bright lights of Vegas.

Alonso, too, will be surely keen to race there as he remains performing at a top-level despite now into his 40s.
