Las Vegas Sands will pursue the development of a flagship hospitality, entertainment and casino project on Long Island, New York. The company has entered into agreements to purchase the long-term lease of the site currently home to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. New Yorkers are taking bids for three downstate casino licenses. Union Gaming estimated that three full casinos in the NewYork City area could generate $4.8B of gross gaming revenue.

Holland Casino cannot advertise its retail locations via its online gambling business. The gambling watchdog, Kansspelautoriteit, probed into the vendor's operations back in October 2021. It found that the online business could have contained advertisements or links to the retail casinos. This is in breach of the current regulations. Holland Casino has taken steps to discontinue the advertising.

Tilman Fertitta bought 7 million shares of Wynn Resorts stock for $400 million. He is the owner of FERTitta Entertainment, which owns more than 600 restaurants, hotels, casinos and other entertainment destinations across the US. In October, the Clark County Commission approved his plans for an upscale resort at Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue. He's a cousin to the Feritta family that controls Red Rock Resort. KSA found that the online site of Holland Casino contained links that led to information about the company's physical locations. It is against the law in the Dutch market to advertise land-based properties on the website.

Police in Thailand say they have broken up an alleged online gambling network. The suspected gang had been operating for more than 10 years and recruited about 2,000 people to staff its illegal activities. Raids were conducted in 63 locations across 14 provinces in the country. Thailand has been stepping up efforts to crack down on illegal online betting. In late October, police said it had bust a Chinese-owned online gaming operation with an estimated daily turnover of THB500 million (US$14.0 million).

Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg wanted to sell one of the company's Strip properties. Reelce announced the start of a sales effort a year ago, 16 months after the merger. The off-Strip Rio Resort was sold to a New York real estate investment firm for $516.3 million. Caesar's will keep its Vegas Strip assets.  The company’s Strip hotel-casinos produced almost $1.1 billion of revenue in the third quarter and $480 million of cash flow. It is the Caeresars-owned casino farthest south on the Strip is Paris Las Vegas.

Caesars Entertainment announced a partnership with SL Green Realty Corp. on a venture to develop Caesers Palace Times Square. Macau's COVID-19 outbreak has surpassed 1,700 cases. The government extended the shutdown of casinos until Friday, July 22. Gross gaming revenue for last month amounted to MOP2.48 billion or $307 million. Macau is going to try and tie the SAR's casino concessionaires’ licensees with a clause that expects them to diversify away from gambling and focus on overseas travelers. JP Morgan Securities says the Q4 GGR for the Macaese SAR was at significant risk. S&P Global Ratings expects the impact of this outbreak to be felt throughout 2023.

New Jersey is considering a ban on smoking in Atlantic City casinos. Nevada has just two casinos that are smoke-free. The industry is the biggest employer of jobs in Nevada. Last year, Atlantic city reported $4.7 billion in gaming revenue. More than $1.36 billion came from New Jersey's regulated internet casino sites. Gaming revenue in the market has been in a 16-year freefall. It hit a low of $2.56 billion last year. In 2006, it was $5.2 billion.

The committee of the Thai National Assembly is proposing the establishment of five casinos with revenues taxed at 30%. The proposed legislation would allow all forms of gambling, from traditional to online. The committee will submit its findings to the government in a month's time and make proposals to House of Representatives by November. Gambling is illegal in Thailand. There are reports of numerous underground gambling dens in the country. The Budget and Finance Committee of Lithuania’s Seimas has completed a draft decree proposing new standards on lottery play and advertising for the Baltic state. The Committee's headline measure called for a vote to raise the minimum age of purchase of lottery tickets from 16-to-18 years of age. If approved, the government will enforce a new lottery age restriction from 1 January 2023. Olifėja, Lithuania's state-sanctioned operator, was ordered to display age-range notifications and safer gambling warnings across its weekly lottery draws.

Belgian National Lottery is the largest gambling advertiser in the country. The government announced a gambling advertising ban on 10 May. It is set to go into effect towards the end of the year. A newspaper alleged that the lottery offered to pay an additional €30 million over three years in exchange for the ad ban. Lotteries claims the government proposed higher payments. Kazakhstan introduced restrictive gambling regulations two years ago. The government is now focusing on amendments to prevent gambling harm. Belgium is seeking to ban gambling advertising by late 2022. The new project intends to prohibit companies and platforms to advertise on television, radio, social media, posters on the street, in newspapers or via personalized email, mail and text messages.

The operation of betting shops requires an F2 Licence. The number of fixed betting shop is limited to 600, and mobile betting stores to 60. Online gambling is restricted to land-based licencees. There is a standard expenditure limit of €500 per week per player. The Royal Decree of 28 October 2018 introduced additional restrictions on remote gambling and advertising. It is only required that certain data is stored on the Belgian server (for control purposes) and that the gaming website can be taken offline through the Belgium server. According to the Misdemeanour Law, games of chance are prohibited in Brazil. Caixa's monopoly on lotteries and Decree Law No. 96,993 of 17 October 1988 regulate horse-race betting. SECAP is in charge of regulating lottery activities in the country. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply is responsible for the regulation of horse racing. Poker is not regulated. Neither are social games nor any other kind of games. Remote and land-based gambling is allowed. There is no distinction between online gambling and bricks-and-mortar gambling for horse races.

79 illegal online gambling websites in Cambodia were shut down. Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia said they were running illegal gambling operations. They said it was a problem for Cambodians and undermined social security. San Chey, executive director of the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability, said gambling is a plague on Cambodian society. He said young people are more susceptible to gambling. TRC called on the public to report any information about online betting operations via the 6789 hotline during working hours or through the TTC’s Facebook page.

Veikkaus, the Finnish national betting agency, is wholly owned by the government. It is the country's only legal betting licensee for lottery and sports betting. Thailand's Cyber Police have raided two houses being used as bases for an online gambling syndicate in Pathum Thani on Monday morning. They arrested 18 people running the operation and seized 16 computers, eight luxury cars and 11 million baht in cash.

Gambling is illegal in Brazil, but poker is not. The government is considering introducing gambling regulation to raise revenues. The only legal gambling activities in the country are lotteries under the state monopoly and horse-race wagering. After the covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Economy is focused on providing financial assistance to other governmental entities and directly to citizens. In December 2018, Law 13,756 created the fixed-odds sports betting lottery method.
