THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. THAT BREAKING NEWS IS OUT OF RANDOLPH COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. A FIVE YEAR OLD IS DEAD AND HER PARENTS ARE ACCUSED OF ABUSING HER DEPUTY SAY THEY WERE CALLED TO A HOME YESTERDAY ON NEEDHAM’S TRAIL NEAR SEAGROVE FOR A WELFARE CHECK. WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY FOUND THE CHILD DEAD. A DEATH INVESTIGATION WAS STARTED AND EVIDENCE WAS LOCATED THAT LED TO THE ARREST OF 30 YEAR OLD BILLY MYERS AND 32 YEAR OLD CHRISTINA MYERS. AS YOU SEE HERE ON YOUR SCREEN, BOTH ARE CHARGED WITH FELONY CHILD ABUSE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY IN THE RANDOLPH COUNTY JAIL, EACH UNDER A $250,000 BOND. A DAVIDSON COUNTY MAN IS ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A GIRL. DEPUTIES SAY IT HAPPENED AT A HOME LAST FRIDAY IN TIRO. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE SUSPECT, 70 YEAR OLD LOGAN JUNIOR DAVIS, WAS ALSO SOLD TO DURING THE CALL FOR SERVICE AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. DAVIS IS CHARGED WITH FELONY INDECENT LIBERTIES WITH A MINOR. HE’S DUE IN COURT ON AUGUST 3RD. MEANTIME, THE OWNERS OF A HOME IN LEXINGTON ARE WORKING TO REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED WHEN A TRUCK CRASHED INTO IT. THIS HAPPENED OVERNIGHT ON HIGHWAY EIGHT NEAR WILLIAM BELL ROAD. THE SOUTH LEXINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THIS SCENE. FIREFIGHTERS SAY THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK TOLD THEM A CAR SWERVED INTO THEIR LANE AND TRYING TO AVOID THAT VEHICLE CAUSED THEM TO GO OFF THE ROAD AND CRASH. NO ONE WAS HURT. TURNING TO OUR WEATHER ON YOUR TUESDAY AFTERNOON NOW WITH A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE FROM OUR CAMERA AT HIGH POINT UNIVERSITY. PLENTY OF SUNSHINE OUT THERE WITH JUST A FEW CLOUDS. METEOROLOGIST MICHELLE KENNEDY JOINS US NOW. MICHELLE, HOW DOES THE REST OF OUR DAY LOOK FOR FOLKS? A LITTLE STEAMY OUT THERE, ACTUALLY. WE’RE GETTING BACK INTO THE MUGS. YOU KNOW, WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A TINY BREAK. WE’LL WE NOTICED A LOWER HUMIDITY DAY THIS WEEK AND NOW WE’RE GETTING BACK TO THAT HEAT INDEX THAT IS RUNNING 2 TO 3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. LET’S SHOW YOU WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW TO YOUR TEMPERATURES CURRENTLY RUNNING IN THE 80S AT THIS HOUR TO 90. AND SO WE’RE FEELING A LITTLE BIT WORSE THAN THAT, UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO HAVE LIGHT WINDS OUT THERE AND THAT’S PART OF THE PROBLEM. AT ANYTIME WE HAVE THE LIGHT WINDS, IT DOESN’T MAKE US FEEL TERRIBLY GOOD. YOU’VE GOT IT FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES AT 88 RIGHT NOW, WINSTON-SALEM, 90 IN GREENSBORO. AND WE ACTUALLY ARE SEEING TEMPERATURES RUNNING 2 TO 3 DEGREES COOLER THAN THAT FOR ACTUAL AIR TEMPERATURES. AND DON’T FORGET, WHEN WE’RE IN THE SUNSHINE, IT ADDS ANOTHER TEN DEGREES TO THE WHOLE EVENT. SO WE FEEL MORE UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN THE FULL SUN IS UP AND WE’VE GOT THOSE WINDS NOW CALM AND WINSTON-SALEM AND GREENSBORO HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE THIS MORNING. FELT PRETTY GOOD. AND YOU’RE LOOKING OUT THERE RIGHT NOW WITH THE HEAT INDICES STILL CLIMBING BACK TO THE WEST. YOU’RE AT 94 IN DALLAS, YOU’VE GOT 89 IN LITTLE ROCK. AND WE’RE NOTICING THAT FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES ALREADY 100 THERE. SO THE CENTER PART OF THE NATION, AS WE TAP INTO SOME OF THAT GULF MOISTURE, THIS IS WHERE THE DRY LINE ALSO IMPACTS FOLKS FOR THE THREAT OF TORNADIC ACTIVITY. YOU’RE LOOKING AT TEMPERATURES AT 91 IN WICHITA, SOME MORE MOISTURE IN THIS ZONE. AND THAT’S WHERE WE HAVE THOSE HEAT ADVISORIES UP. AND THE GOOD NEWS IS NO HEAT ADVISORIES FOR THE CAROLINAS, AT LEAST NOT RIGHT NOW. WE’LL TALK ABOUT WHERE WE’RE HEADING FOR THE WEEKEND. TWO COMING UP. AND SPEAKING OF THE HEAT, MICHELLE, DOCTORS ARE TELLING PEOPLE AT HOME TO GET READY NOW FOR THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY ON THE WAY LATER THIS WEEK. DR. MICHAEL FITCH AT ATRIUM HEALTH WAKE FOREST BAPTIST SAYS IT’S IMPORTANT PEOPLE ARE STAYING HYDRATED AND DRESSING PROPERLY. FOR EXAMPLE, WEARING LIGHT COLORED AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING. DR. FITCH ALSO SAYS THIS IS THE TIME WHERE WE BEGIN TO SEE MORE HEAT INDUCED ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEAT CRAMPS, HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. YOU MIGHT HAVE HEAVY SWEATING, YOU MIGHT FEEL VERY HOT. YOU MIGHT START TO BE PALE OR FEEL A LITTLE BIT LIGHTHEADED. AGAIN, THAT’S A WARNING SIGN FROM YOUR BODY THAT IT’S TIME TO GET IN THE COOL USE SOME COOL RAGS, DRINK SOME EXTRA WATER, GET IN OUT OF THE HEAT. AND HE ALSO SAYS PEOPLE HE’S WORRIED ABOUT MOST DURING THIS TIME OF HEAT ARE KIDS AND ADULTS. OVER THE AGE OF 65, HE SAYS TO MA
