Montcalm County woman wins nearly $800,000 with lottery ticket

MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — A Montcalm County woman won nearly $800,000 playing the Michigan Lottery's Jackpot Slots Fast Cash game.
The 55-year-old player chose to remain anonymous and bought her winning $791,957 ticket on Feb. 26 at Trufant Gas and Party Store, located at 1101 Kohler Road in Trufant.
She said she had seen how high the Fast Cash jackpot was rising, so she bought some tickets and won a few dollars. When she stopped to get gas the next day, she cashed them in and bought her winning ticket.
“The clerk scanned the ticket and thought something was wrong with their machine when a message came up to file a claim at the Lottery office, but I knew it meant I might have a big winner," she said.
The woman said right then, she knew she had won big.
“When she handed the ticket to me, I saw the three jackpot symbols right away and knew I had won the jackpot," she said. "I wanted to get the ticket home and in a safe place ASAP, so I rushed to my car and drove straight home.”

Fast Cash games range from $2 to $20 per play. They're a series of instant-win games that offer a progressive jackpot, with each ticket giving players a chance to win all or part of it.
Each time a Fast Cash ticket is purchased, the money feeds into the progressive jackpot. The amount of the jackpot is printed on each ticket, so players know how much they're playing for.
Once a jackpot is hit, a new one starts to grow.
