A Casino Night hosted by the Harvey Cedars Police Foundation will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the High Point Firehouse. Proceeds from the event supports both the foundation and the volunteer fire company. Attendees must be 21 or older and present a valid ID.

“We look forward to providing a fun evening, with a chance to try your luck at various casino games, while providing support for both of these valuable community organizations,” said Sgt. Kevin Snow, foundation president and event organizer. “Our goal at the foundation is to provide funding for youth and community outreach programs, charities, training and education, and funding for specialized equipment to help our police department better serve the community, so not only will you have a great evening, you will be doing good for the community. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be going to a high school scholarship.”

Craig Coddington, fire company president, said, “We rely on the generosity of the community, so this fundraiser will help us fulfill our mission. We hope everyone enjoys the food, drinks and games.”

Coddington noted that the volunteer fire company, which was organized in 1937, is funded primarily through donations and various fundraisers.

“We take pride in the service we provide to our community,” he said. “We need to ensure that we have the ability to continue providing that service, so fundraising has to be a focus of ours. When we can do it in a way that provides a fun night for our supporters, that is great.”

The casino games will be run by Casino Parties Inc., utilizing all licensed dealers. In the spirit of a “fun” evening, patrons won’t be betting, or winning and losing, money but instead will be given chips to play with. At the end of the night, they can turn their chips into raffle tickets that they will then be able to use to try to win prizes by placing them in a bucket for an auction.

Food will be provided by the Neptune Market, and beer and wine provided by Neptune Liquors.

“We are so happy to be a part of the Harvey Cedars community and to help in any way we can,” said Karen Robbins, new owner of the Neptune Market. Rob Hill, Neptune Wines and Liquors’ general manager, added, “Always a pleasure to provide whatever help is needed for our police department. They do an awesome job for our community.”

The cost for the event is $125 per person, which includes food, drink and four hours of trying your luck at various games. In addition to the usual casino games, there will also be side activities including flipping a card for a chance to win a bottle of wine, and others.
