The 38-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won $234,333 after he was selected in a random drawing that took place May 2. “I saw an email from the Lottery, so I opened it and read that I’d won $234,333,” said the player. “I immediately thought to myself: ‘This has got to be a scam.’ I called the Lottery to confirm and then I matched the phone number in the email with what was on the Michigan Lottery website, and that’s when I knew it was real! This all still feels surreal.”
The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy Detroit Lions game tickets and take a vacation.
