Demolition looms and another Las Vegas Strip classic gets ready to bite the dust.

When it opened in April 1957, the Tropicana was the most expensive and glamorous hotel ever built in Las Vegas. Even as the hotel faces its certain fate, the glory days aren’t so hard to envision. 

“Nothing like that had been done before inside a casino,” an architect once said of a legendary stained glass ceiling that encases the gambling area. “It changed the texture of design in Las Vegas.” 

Bay Area Uber, Lyft drivers face freeway dilemma. They can either sit in traffic, losing time, or pay the toll out of pocket, which can exceed $10 depending on the day. "We lose money," a driver said.
