Thick black smoke filled the Las Vegas sky on Saturday after a fire at a soon-to-be-open Las Vegas resort and casino.

Around 3:40 p.m. local time, smoke was seen coming from the roof of The Fontainebleau Las Vegas along the Strip.

There were no reported injuries in the blaze, which saw 89 firefighters respond. Water pumps were operational in the structure, allowing firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Black smoke could be seen across the Las Vegas area coming from the 67-story building.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police closed Elvis Presley Boulevard between Las Vegas Boulevard and Paradise Road as a result of the fire.

'A minor fire that occurred at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on the rooftop has been quickly contained, and there are no injuries. The fire started at approximately 3:41 p.m. and the cause is under investigation. As safety and security are our highest priorities, we are working closely with the investigators, and additional questions regarding the fire should be directed to the Clark County Fire Department,' Fontainebleau officials said in a statement.

Fire crews used elevators to get to the fire at the under-construction hotel, according to KLAS.

Officials have yet to put a dollar figure on damage, which was in the rooftop area.

The Fontainebleau Las Vegas is on the 24.5-acre site that was previously home to the Algiers Hotel and the El Rancho Hotel and Casino. The resort remains under construction and was set to open in 2023.

Construction started at the site in 2007, just before the start of the Great Recession. That led to multiple banks leaving the project and changes in ownership, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
