Virginia's state gaming tax revenues would rise from $103.5 million to $115.8 million with a Casino in Petersburg and to to more than $130 million if an additional casino opened in Richmond, but those totals include reduced revenues at the other four.

Turning Stone Resort Casino plans biggest expansion since it opened. The project will be completed over a period of several years. It will nearly double the Oneida Indian Nation-owned resort's convention and conference space and add a new hotel. All the additions will take place on Turning Stone’s existing 1,600-acre campus. San Francisco-based architecture and design firm Gensler will work on the expansion. The expansion does not include any additions to the gaming operations at the full-service casino. TurningStone opened 1993 and originally included a hotel and a bingo hall.

Virginia's new state budget agreement includes language that would delay state licensing of a proposed casino in South Richmond even if voters approve it in November's second referendum. The new budget deal would not allow the Virginia Lottery to license the facility if it's approved until after the completion of the legislative study of Petersburg's potential rival site.

Voters in the central Virginia city of Richmond rejected a plan to build a casino resort. The proposed One Casino and Resort was to be situated on a 100-acre brownfield site owned by Philip Morris International.

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney issues a statement on the failure of the casino gaming referendum. He is proud of transparent and public process and the economic development team who negotiated the project and Richmond City Council, which overwhelmingly supported it. Stonyy's administration will continue to pursue other economic opportunities.

The Richmond casino referendum is too close to call. Most of the precincts in Richmond's West End and North Side voted against the proposal, while most of precincts on the South Side supported it. Urban One wants to build a $565 million casino with a 250-room luxury resort hotel in South Richmond. The company spent $2 million on media, campaign mail and volunteers.

Brandon Wall, Khadijah Thomas, Jordan Stoney and Gabrien Brooks are accused of trying to defraud internet casinos in Columbia County. They used jamming devices to trick slot machines into printing them winning tickets at Happy Times Casino.

Tsuut'ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations want to shut down the province's PlayAlberta online gambling website. The claim alleges a conflict of interest and lack of authority to operate a casino. Play Alberta allows people to prove their age and bet real dollars on slots and table games. It launched in October 2020.
