Jo O'Meara is trying to raise awareness about gambling addiction. She is promoting the work done by UK charity GamCare.

O'Meara went to a bingo hall for the first time at 18. She was an active player of fruit slot machines for about five years. Eventually, she realized that this habit was making her antisocial.

O'Meara is trying to break the stereotype that gambling problems are only for older men. She believes that society does not have enough empathy towards gambling addiction. According to GamCare, the cost of living crisis has a negative effect on players. In addition, inflation pressures are forcing people with gambling issues to relapse. 43% of people who have gambling-related issues also own cryptocurrencies.

S Club 7 Star Raises Awareness on Gambling Addiction. She wants to get her point across that it happens to women, young women as well.
