It's helped raise money for Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarships for more than 30,000 students during each of the past 11 fiscal years.

Hammered by Complaints, Push for Chicago Casino Faces Bumpy Final Stretch

None of the Chicago casino finalists rolled double sixes at community meetings staged by Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Less than a third of time was reserved for Chicagoans to question the development teams directly. Many residents are deeply concerned about traffic, crime, property values and quality of life. The finalists must address those concerns and prove their casino will boost businesses owned by Black and Latino Chicagoers. None of alderpeople in the wards that would house the finalists for the casino has endorsed the proposal. Mayor Light foot is running for re-election. If she wins, she will have to find 26 votes for any of her proposals.

Another Push For Casino Smoking Ban Resurrected By Lawmaker

State Rep. Dan Frankel and Sen. Jay Costa want to change the law to ban casino smoking. The 2008 law bans smoking in restaurants and other public spaces, but it allows casinos to allow smoking on up to 50% of the gaming floor. Parx Casino, the state's largest, requires smokers to go outside to light up. Mount Airy Casino Resort has also initiated its own ban. The state revenue figures suggest that the ban does not harm the casinos. It is a health issue for non-smokers. They prefer to be in venues where they don't have to deal with cigarettes nearby.

There's buzz that the mask mandate could be removed by the middle of November. It's good to plan as much in advance as possible. There should be lower prices and more tickets for shows. The new regulations may encourage more visitors. They should also be less restrictive.
