Nonsmokers Rights Group Request MLB to Help Ban Smoking in Vegas Casinos

A California-based group advocating for smoke-free smoking workplaces is reaching out to Major League Baseball (MLB) to help ban smoking in Nevada casinos.
Nonsmokers Rights group has contacted MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and Oakland Athletics to help end smoking in Nevada gambling halls.
Oakland Athletics, also known as A’s are contemplating moving to Nevada. The team has already banned smoking at its home stadium in Oakland. The A’s also play at Las Vegas Ballpark, a place that has been declared free from any kind of smoke that includes e-cigarettes and vaporizers.
In a letter to Manfred, Nonsmokers Rights CEO Cynthia Hallet stated that smoking is only permitted in casinos in only two cities with MLB teams. Kansas City and St. Louis.
“As you continue your consideration of Las Vegas or other cities as new home cities for the Athletics or other MLB teams, we hope you will contribute to creating safe environments in communities that host MLB franchises.”
It is not yet clear whether the MLB commissioner has responded to the request. However, smoking in casinos is a contentious topic among people on both sides.
Louisiana Shreveport City recently banned smoking in its two riverboat casinos, a move that was acclaimed by many for its create a safe working and gambling area.
Park MGM in Vegas banned smoking throughout the resort last year. NoMad Las Vegas, a luxury hotel with a hotel at Park MGM has also banned smoking. Resort World Las Vegas and Cosmopolitan also prohibit smoking in public areas, but not on the casino floor.
