A Loveland man has brought a bit of Sin City history to his north Loveland neighborhood with his unique Christmas yard display.

Mark Fleetwood said that several years ago he visited a museum in Las Vegas that took in old casino marquee signs instead of letting them be thrown away. This, he said, gave him an idea this year for his yard display in front of his home in the 3000 block of Hudson Drive in the Hunters Run neighborhood.

“I saw that and thought that would be unique and bright,” he said.

Fleetwood said that over his years in Loveland he has always had large displays in his front yard but has wanted to turn it into something more unique. Last year, Fleetwood traveled back to his Indianapolis roots and created 50 IndyCar-style sleighs that were placed on his driveway and eventually sold.

This year, he decided instead of sleighs he would still make the small, recreated cars but in the vehicle’s original style; colorful with an open top for interested families to buy for their kids for $2. Fleetwood said all the money that is raised will also be donated to the Food Bank for Larimer County.

Now, as Christmas approaches, the Fleetwood house has been decked out in recreated signs from Las Vegas casinos ranging between the 1940s to the 1980s; hand-cut and painted recreations of Caesar’s Palace, the Stardust and many more are lit up at night for the holiday season.

Fleetwood, who looked proudly on his creation Monday afternoon, said he has had fun watching those around him marvel at his work.

“It feels nice that it makes people happy.” he said. “We have seen a lot of cars drive by and slow down. We are happy to do it.”
