(KTAL/KMSS) – The Cordish Companies hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana construction.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board approved the plans for the new casino in October.

In attendance at the ceremony were Bossier City Council, Mayor Tommy Chandler, Representative Sam Jenkins, Louisiana Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns, Speaker Mike Johnson, and members of the Cordish Companies leadership team.

The Live! Casino brand is said to be the company’s flagship brand, celebrating 25 years of attracting major entertainment business.

“It already attracts 55 million visitors to Live! branded projects throughout the country,” said Jon Cordish, principal of the Cordish Companies.

The land-based casino is projected to cost $270 million and will generate $35 million in gaming tax revenues for the City of Bossier.

The casino will have hotel amenities, 1,000 slot machines, over 40 table games, convention or entertainment space, and dining. The sports social area will showcase a 100 ft. TV screen.

“But it’s not just what we’re doing here in the casino, it’s really about what we do when we enter the market and how we interact with the community,” said Rob Norton, president of Cordish Gaming Group. “We have a commitment to the community that we create transformative developments,”

Norton said leaders are estimating 700 active construction jobs available on-site and nearly 700 jobs in daily operation once the casino opens.

“The Cordish Companies is a great example that it is not about ideas, it is about making ideas happen,” said Tommy Chandler, Bossier City Mayor.

Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is scheduled to open in 2025.
