Mississippi casino entertainment company is buying a shuttered casino in Louisiana and plans to give it a $200m facelift and open in 2024.

Foundation Gaming Group bought the former Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City. The company owns and operates WaterView Casino & Hotel in Vicksburg and Fitz Casino and Hotel, in Tunica.

Foundation will build a new 47,000-square-foot casino in northwest Louisiana. It will be the first land-based casino to open in the region. The new casino will also include a sports betting lounge and a 300-seat live entertainment venue. Foundation also plans to refurbish the site's 405-room hotel.

Foundation's chief operations and marketing officer Les McMackin said that the foundation wants to start fresh. The casino project has the full backing of the Bossier City Mayor, the bossier Parish Police Jury and state Rep. Sam Jenkins. Demolition of Diamond Jacks is scheduled for early 2023.

We're going to bring something new and different to the market that we draw people in as a destination.
