In 2021, Las Vegas had some big openings such as Resorts World Las Vegas and Virgin Hotels Las vegasy. Last year, there were also significant acquisitions on the Strip and beyond, including the purchase of The Palms. In 2022, the results of those deals, plus more construction and big-name entertainment residencies are what's ahead for LasVegans in 2022.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will buy The Palms in Las Vegas for $650 million in the first half of 2021. The complex includes a casino, a hotel with more than 700 rooms, Palm Place condominiums, convention space, multiple dining options, 2,500-seat theater, pool and spa. Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in California was previously known as San. Manuel Casino and it was expanded into a luxury resort in 2018.

MGM Resorts International will buy The Cosmopolitan from Blackstone for $5.65 million. The deal is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2022.

Hard Rock International bought The Mirage from MGM Resorts International for $1.075 million in December. Hard Rock plans to build a giant purple guitar-shaped hotel and remodel other parts of The Mira.

There are some new and notable residences coming to Sin City in 2022.

Katy Perry's "Play" residency started in December and will run through March 19 at Resorts World Theatre. Adele's new "Weekends with Adel" at Caesars Palace opens Jan. 21 and runs through April 15.

Luke Bryan's Las Vegas residency runs from February 11-May 2.

Carrie Underwood's residency in Las Vegas is currently dark. It will resume March 23-April 2 at Resorts World Theatre.

John Legend will bring his "Love in Las Vegas" show to the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino April 22-Oct. 29.

The renovation of Caesars Palace's entrance is wrapping up. The new entrance will include two redesigned gaming areas and a new lobby bar.

The 67-story Fontainebleau hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip was supposed to open in March 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic. The developer has now said the hotel will be finished by the end of 2023.

Majestic Las Vegas will begin construction this month. The 720-room hotel will have a total of 10 floors. Construction is expected to be complete in 2024.

Planet Hollywood is remodeling its Miracle Mile shops. The interior and exterior renovation will begin in winter 2022 and is expected to be completed in spring 2023.

MSG Sphere is being built east of The Venetian and Palazzo. The venue will be 17,500 seats and measure 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide. It will have screens the size of three football fields.

Project63 is a four-story retail complex at the CityCenter complex. The fourth floor will be used for outdoor dining and drinking areas. It is expected to be completed in the fall.
