STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New Yorkers can now skip the line and order New York Lottery tickets from anywhere — using their phone or laptop, thanks to a new online platform.

And there’s no hurry, either. The new Jackpot.com website, launched in New York on Aug. 1, allows lottery players to purchase tickets right up until the numbers are drawn.

Also, through a certification from the National Council on Problem Gambling, Jackpot.com’s transaction process eliminates the risk of lost tickets and winnings, and also features safeguards to help identify problematic gambling in a proactive manner.

Jackpot.com allows New Yorkers to order tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions, Cash4Life, New York Lotto and Pick 10. And this is welcome news for many ahead of Friday’s $1.25 billion Mega Millions drawing.

It’s basically a courier service that purchases tickets on behalf of its customers from official state lottery retailers, displays a scan of each ticket and transfers winnings of $600 or less in real-time to their account, according to an announcement by Jackpot.com CEO and co-founder Akshay K. Khanna.

Users are charged a 15% fee when they load money into their account. For example, if you load $100 into your account, you’ll have $85 to spend.

There is no fee taken from user winnings, however. And users will receive an extra $2 (basically another ticket for free) when their first deposit is made into the account.

If a prize over $600 is won, Jackpot.com securely sends the winning ticket to the lucky player so they can collect the winnings from the New York Lottery.

“We’re excited to be launching Jackpot.com today and giving New Yorkers, who are notoriously on the go, a new way to play Mega Millions — and all other NY Lotto games — on their mobile devices,’' said Khanna. “New Yorkers won’t need to worry about waiting in line, or even leaving the comfort of their air conditioning. With Jackpot’s enhanced safety, security and convenience, there is no better way to order your lotto tickets today!”

Jackpot.com is partnering with two of New York’s most storied sports franchises to finance the deal: Yankee Global Enterprises (New York Yankees) and the Tisch family (co-owners of the New York Giants).

“We’re thrilled to announce Jackpot.com’s launch in the Empire State, the nation’s second-largest lottery market,” said Khanna. “Jackpot.com is happy to help New Yorkers order official state lottery tickets online with increased safety, security and convenience. At Jackpot.com, we’re always striving to increase accessibility and elevate the player experience by making it more convenient and secure for players to order lottery tickets, ensuring players don’t lose a winning ticket.”

The company said it has invested significantly in responsible gaming protections by setting default limits on daily deposits, providing access to local and national responsible gambling resources and providing automated notifications that offer help if problematic behavior is detected. That’s how it earned iCap certification from the National Council on Problem Gambling.

“The Jackpot.com platform has an innovative design and provides users an easily accessible interface to order official lottery tickets,’’ said New York Yankees Senior Vice President Tony Bruno in the Aug. 1 press announcement. “We know that it will be enjoyed by consumers, and the Yankees are excited to see it launch in New York State.”

Jackpot.com has one of the best and most progressive solutions on the market to make the lottery so accessible, said Carolyn Tisch. “We are thrilled to be part of Jackpot.com’s expansion in New York and its mission to positively change the way New Yorkers order official state lottery tickets,” she said.

Jackpot.com is currently available in New York, Texas and Ohio.

The New York Lottery reports that it is the largest and most profitable lottery in North America and generated more than $10.4 billion in sales throughout the 2022 fiscal year. New York Lottery has reportedly contributed more than $78.7 billion to support education statewide since 1967, and contributed $3.6 billion to help support New York state public education in FY 2022.
