3 indicted in Baccarat cheating scheme at Encore Boston Harbor casino

Jianming Li, 53, Jun Zhang, 41, and De Lin, 46, of Philadelphia were indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury on charges including cheating and conspiracy. They are accused of teaming up with a former Maryland casino dealer and a third man from Philadelphia in a Baccarat scheme that netted them $23,500 over two nights at Encore Boston Harbor. While the dealer was dealing the cards, one of the other men allegedly exposed a series of playing cards and memorized them. He's then accused to communicate the order to the third one on his cell phone.

Recently Reopened Mass. Casinos See No Major Issues With Public Health Guidelines

Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor reopened recently. They were closed for four months due to pandemic. Regulators say the casinos have been running smoothly. Before the pandemics, the three casinos generated about $20 million in tax revenue each month. Without gambling activity for 4 months, Massachusetts lost at least $80 million. The new restrictions include no poker, craps or roulette, gaming tables capped at three players, and players must wear masks. It's a new industry. "We're in uncharted waters," says an official.
