EC: Expert Group on Gambling Services Will Not Be Reinstated

The European Commission refused to reinstate a decommissioned cross member state expert group on gambling services.
The European Commission refused to reinstate the Expert Group on Gambling services. Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) requested the Commission to do so. The Commission's response was not very positive. The Expert group was successful in promoting cooperation between national regulators and the EU. It also helped to mandate a number of valuable studies. EC will not reinstitute the group. They will focus on legislation initiatives with direct impact on the provision of online gambling services, including the 5AML Directive, e-ID, Digital Services Act, and Digital Tax.
The cross member collaborative group was decommissioned in 2018. The European Commission decided to let the Expert Group on Gambling Services run its course. The Commission was no longer actively following gambling-related developments.
