Revenues at Danville Casino decreased again over the previous month, with the gaming establishment bringing in about $16.8 million during October, according to the most recent gaming activity report from the Virginia Lottery released Wednesday.

That's more than $2 million less than the temporary facility saw in September, when it generated about $19.14 million.

The casino rang up about $12.6 million from its 822 slots and about $4.2 million from its 33 table games last month.

Danville Casino is housed in a giant tent-like structure while construction continues on a full resort expected to open by late 2024.

Since the temporary gaming establishment opened on May 15, its highest month was in July, when it hit about $21.4 million in revenues.

Danville is set to collect about $1.01 million in from the state in gaming taxes from the casino for the month of October. In addition, Danville will receive $421,031.70 in direct payments from Caesars Virginia as part of an agreement between the two entities, for a total of about $1.43 million.

So far, the city is set to receive a total of about $6.4 million from the state in gaming taxes from the casino since its opening six months ago, and nearly $2.7 million in direct payments from Caesars, said Danville Finance Director Michael Adkins.

Total money coming to Danville from gaming taxes and direct payments from Caesars is expected to add up to about $9.2 million so far, Adkins said.

Danville brought in less money than the $20 million generated at Rivers Casino Portsmouth in October, but exceeded that collected last month by HR Bristol, which was about $12.68 million.
