KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized at least RM100,000 cash after arresting a man believed to be involved in an online gambling ring.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said they conducted a raid at Taman Bukit Indah here at around 12.30am on Sunday (July 4).

"A team from Brickfields together with a gambling expert from City police headquarters as well as forensic officers from Bukit Aman were involved in the raid.

"We arrested a 41-year-old suspect and seized three mobile phones, RM100,000 cash and two computers which showed bets placed online using the two websites," he said in a statement Sunday.

He said the suspect confessed to being involved in online gambling as well as illegal four digit lotteries for at least three years.

"Our gambling expert, upon analysis of the seized items, also suspects elements of online gambling are involved.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist further investigations," he said.

Those with information on the case or other crime activities should contact the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222, or the City police hotline 03-2115 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
