BRISTOL, Va. - The upcoming Bristol Casino, soon to be home to a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and Ballad Health have joined forces to host the annual 'Flamingo Walk,' a fundraiser to uplift breast cancer research and awareness. The event is set to take place on October 21, 2023, as part of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, often termed Pinktober.

The ‘Flamingo Walk’, organized under the banner of the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative, will commence at Boyce Cox Field and conclude at the Bristol Casino parking lot. All proceeds generated from the event will be channeled to the American Cancer Society for research and patient services.

"Hard Rock International has raised over $1 million for breast cancer research. We look forward to bringing the community together for this meaningful event," stated Allie Evangelista, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol.

Reiterating the significance of the walk, Tony Dotson, Ballad Health's VP of Oncology Services, noted, "Our partnership with Bristol Casino and the American Cancer Society underscores our commitment to combating breast cancer, a disease that impacts one in eight women in the U.S."

Expressing appreciation for the support, Jane Roberts, Senior Development Manager at the American Cancer Society, highlighted the unity fostered by the 'Making Strides' movement among survivors and their loved ones.

Since its inception in 1993, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has brought together countless individuals affected by breast cancer across the country. Interested parties may register at the official website to participate in the event.
