Australia: ACMA blocks 10 offshore illegal gambling and affiliate websites

Stay Casino, Bambet, Dazard Casino and Level Up Casino are the latest sites to be blocked by the ACMA. The regulator has asked internet service providers to block 10 non-compliant offshore sites. Since the first blocking request in November 2019, 481 illegal gambling websites have been blocked. Over 160 illegal services have pulled out of the Australian market since the new illegal offshore gambling rules were introduced in 2017. There is an increase in online gambling among Australians. More than one in 10 Australians have reported participating in iGaming at some stage in the previous 6 months.

ACMA issues nine blocking orders against igaming and affiliate sites. The authority said the nine breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 by offering services to Australian players without a licence. Since the first blocking request in November 2019, 481 illegal gambling websites have been blocked. More than 160 illegal services have pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017.
