Lake Mead is losing water. Several sets of human remains have been discovered in the receding lake since spring. In early May, a man's body was found inside of a barrel. It's believed he was shot in 1970s or 1980s.

In his travels, he hasn't been to Las Vegas. He spent a few days in smaller cities like Reno and Lake Tahoe. He's always on the lookout for secondary cities that get less attention than the big kahunas like Las Las Vegas.

In Las Vegas in the 1950s and early 1960s, there was racial segregation between Black and white-owned entertainment venues. The Will Maston Trio were the first African-American band to perform on The Strip in 1953. Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack were instrumental in bringing the issue to the attention of policymakers. In 1960, the mayor agreed to desegregate the city. It was the result of the efforts of organised crime families. They wanted to shut down non-white- owned clubs and expand their markets. This led to opening of integrated nightclubs modelled on the venues of Harlem Renaissance.

Cordish Companies is the preferred operator of a proposed casino in Petersburg. The Petersburg City Council approved the choice on Tuesday night. Neither the city nor the company have revealed details about the casino. Petersburg will submit the project to city voters next year for approval in a referendum. Richmond voters rejected a proposal to build a casino last year. The company is a veteran casino developer, operating casino resorts in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and two Florida cities under the "Live! Casino & Hotel" brand. Gov. Glenn Youngkin is pushing a combination of new and existing initiatives to revitalize the economically struggling, majority Black city.

Sandra Douglass Morgan is the president of the Las Vegas Raiders. She was born in Las Angeles in the 80s. Sandra Douglade Morgan has worked in sports, entertainment and gaming industry. She is a wife and mother of two teenagers. Her children were shocked when she told them she was taking the team president position. They spent last season going to Raiders games. KTNV talked to Sandra about her role in her family and the city.

MGM Resorts is renowned for its extensive wine program. The program is led by MGM's first-ever cigar sommelier, Ricardo Smenner. Michael Mina's signature restaurant in the Bellagio is a favorite of high-rollers. VIPs often join the VIP guests for as long as a month. The Bellaggio Gallery of Fine Art has a new exhibition, Caldonia: Concert and Film Posters from The Ralph DeLuca Collection. It features 44 vintage posters highlighting American music and film icons. This exhibition is showcased in Bellggio's Gallery. Bellgio offers a wine pairing with the appetizers and the lobster pot pie.

New museum plans could shed new light on historic westside of Las Vegas. It was once dubbed as a thriving area where only blacks could live and enjoy entertainment. Before integration, blacks were only allowed to live on the west side. Then in 1955, came the world-famous Moulin Rouge, the first integrated casino in Las Las.  Residents feel a museum might be a great way to share the story of the Westside.

North Las Vegas is the fourth-largest city by population in the state of Nevada. It is best known for the Las Las Vites Motor Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag races.

Las Vegas and Atlantic City are two popular vacation destinations. Both cities are unforgettable in their own right. For many, Las Vegas is the place to go, but Atlantic is a less trendy version of the Nevada counterpart.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority released its annual visitor profile after a one-year hiatus. In 2019, about 42 million people visited the Las Las Vegans. Last year, 32 million visitors came to Las vegans, despite lagging international air travel and the effects of the pandemic. Visitors spent more on gambling in 2021 than they did in 2019.

According to gaming-industry insiders, low-tech table games like roulette and blackjack are winning over millennials and Gen Zers. The tables provide social interaction that slot machines can't. Internet gaming is also attracting younger gamblers to live table game. The industry is concerned about the lack of gambling from the younger generation. Las Vegas coalition aims to close the Black homeownership gap. In 1970, 42 percent of Black households owned their own homes, while 65 percent owned homes for white people. By 2020, the gap will be 45 percent. The gap is similar in Las Vegas. The coalition is a public-private partnership backed by the tech real estate company Homie. It's aimed at helping 25,000 Black families into homeownerships over the next decade. There are many barriers to Black home ownership, such as lack of capital for down payment and closing costs, inadequate access to credit and poor credit history, insufficient financial literacy and knowledge about the home buying process.

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney issues a statement on the failure of the casino gaming referendum. He is proud of transparent and public process and the economic development team who negotiated the project and Richmond City Council, which overwhelmingly supported it. Stonyy's administration will continue to pursue other economic opportunities.

The Richmond casino referendum is too close to call. Most of the precincts in Richmond's West End and North Side voted against the proposal, while most of precincts on the South Side supported it. Urban One wants to build a $565 million casino with a 250-room luxury resort hotel in South Richmond. The company spent $2 million on media, campaign mail and volunteers.

The Illinois Gaming Board is considering a casino license application from Southland Cook County. The board did not vote on the three finalists Wednesday. They will meet again next Wednesday to choose a winner. The winner will be announced by January. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed a gaming expansion bill that legalized sports betting in June 2019. State Rep. Anthony DeLuca asked him to push the IGB into action.

Bo Jackson joins investment group looking to open Calumet City casino.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been the most challenging challenge for Las Vegas. Workers have been permanently displaced from their jobs and tens of thousands more are facing eviction. Councilman Ruben Navarrette wants to help the people affected by the pandemics and diversify the economy. He wants them to get vaccinated. Navarendra wants the Westside’s advanced workforce training center to be built. If he is elected as mayor, he wants it to open in 2021. It will be open until 2 a.m.

Urban One CEO Alfred Liggins is campaigning to build a casino in the Southside of Richmond. The project needs to pass a referendum in November. Activist Quinton Robbins is against the project. He believes casinos bring low-quality jobs and gentrification to the area. If built, the casino will bring Richmond $525 million in new tax revenue.

Urban One is expanding yet again with a new casino in Richmond, Virginia. Cathy Hughes founded Urban One in 1980 with the purchase of a Washington, D.C. station. Urban is the largest African American-owned broadcasting company in the U.S., operating 55 radio stations, the majority-own syndicator Reach Media, and its digital arm Interactive One.

Richmond City Council approved the host community agreement for a $600 million casino-hotel resort. The agreement outlines expectations that the city and the resort's developer, Urban One, will have about the property's performance. Now the council can file a petition with the Circuit Court to add a casino referendum on the November 2 ballot. Virginia Lottery Board gave the green light to proposed permanent casino regulations.

Evaluation Panel recommends ONE Casino + Resort for southside Richmond. Mayor Levar Stoney supports the decision. The proposed site is located on Walmsley Boulevard in South Richmond and the Evaluation Panel’s recommendation is backed by Mayor Stony.

Virginia is one of 10 states that have no casinos. The state Senate and House of Delegates have approved a bill that would permit casinos in five cities and a slot machine palace in Prince William County. It was passed by a compromise between Democrats and Republicans. The bill is supported by deep-pocketed gambling outfits. They want to help push the legislation through. State Sen. L. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth) has been fighting the suspicion for 25 years. She is convinced that a casino would inject new life into her struggling city.
