MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Over $70,000 in cash and eight hard drivers from illegal gaming machines were seized from a Memphis gas station, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

MPD said the seizure happened back on Friday, January 12 after officers received a tip about a month earlier that illegal gaming machines were operating at the Exxon Hop-In gas station on East Shelby Drive.

Police said 25-year-old Sankar Ankireddy was arrested and given a misdemeanor citation for Gambling Prohibited and Possession of a Gambling Device or Record Forfeiture.

It's not the first illegal gambling seizure MPD has made recently.

Back in October of 2023, the department announced the seizure of more than $1 million and over 260 machines which were confiscated during "Operation Casino Royale".
