LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two people are dead and multiple others were hospitalized after a shooting near the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.

On Wednesday around 5:30 p.m., Metro police responded to a report of a shooting in the area 200 block of West Chicago Avenue near The Strat Hotel and Casino.

When officers arrived, they found one person on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The person was later pronounced dead.

One other person was also pronounced dead, police said.

Several other people were taken to a local hospital with injuries related to the shooting. Police said that the shooting occurred after an altercation in the street.
