Miranda Lambert is sharing a few more details about her upcoming Las Vegas Residency, Velvet Rodeo: The Residency.

The country superstar and reigning ACM Entertainer Of The Year recently revealed plans to take over Sin City with her Las Vegas Residency, dubbed the Velvet Rodeo.

“‘Velvet Rodeo’ felt right off the bat when this Vegas residency came to the table,” Lambert explained of the residency’s namesake. “I think it feels feminine, but it also says rodeo. So that’s like feminine and badass, and that’s kinda what I tried to build my career on. So that’s like a nutshell of my catalog, really. The idea that we could take it up a few notches for production is exciting to me, and scary, because I usually just keep it pretty much about the music.”

Launching this fall, in September 2022, the residency will take place at Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Velvet Rodeo: The Residency will give fans an up close and personal opportunity to experience live performances of the numerous chart-topping songs and beloved album cuts from Lambert’s seven No. 1 albums as well as her forthcoming project, Palomino.

The Velvet Rodeo Residency is set to kick off on September 23 and run through April 2023.

Miranda Lambert Is Bringing The Party To Vegas

“I’m so excited, I’ve been thinking about it for a year. I mean, I’m nervous in a good way, It’s such a different thing to not get off a bus and play music, you know, like to be in one place,” the Texas native said during an interview with iHeartCountry. “I’ve been talking to a lot of friends that have done it and love it and told me the ins and outs of how different it is from being on the road. We’re road dogs, we’ve been playing on the road for 20-years, it’s just cool. We usually take the party to people, but this time the party’s just in Vegas and the party comes to us. So I’m all about that.”

Miranda Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo: The Las Vegas Residency Will Be Unlike Anything She’s Ever Done Before

“This will definitely be a one-of-a-kind experience,” Lambert promised fans. “I think it’s going to be a new energy for me and will breathe new life into my process.”

Miranda Lambert’s 24-Date Velvet Rodeo Residency Will Take Place At Zappos Theater

Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino will host the country superstar’s residency. The venue has been home to several other residencies over the years, including Shania Twain (2019-2022), Florida Georgia Line (2019), and Gwen Stefani (2018-2021), among many others.

The Residency’s Namesake Comes From Song Lyrics On Her New Album

The residency, called Velvet Rodeo: The Residency, takes its name from Lambert’s song “Actin’ Up,” which is the first song on her new album, Palomino

“Well, it’s a line in one of my new songs, called ‘Actin’ Up,'” Lambert explained. “I don’t know I feel like I’ve built a career on being feminine and still keeping a badass edge and I think that’s important, and I felt like Velvet Rodeo encompassed that. It sort of felt like my catalog as a whole and it’s a line in a new song and it just felt like very Vegas to me.”

The Set List May Change Night To Night

Lambert is known to change up her set list often as she feels necessary and her Vegas residency will be no different.

“We’re going to leave some room in the set list to pull an audible and mix things up a little,” Lambert teased during a Vegas residency Q&A on her Instagram.

“I like to have the option of changing my mind because I’m a woman,” Lambert told iHeart. “So, we usually have a ‘look’ we call it, where it’s like ‘classic rock cover look,’ like we might just be like we want to do ZZ Top cover right now, so we’re going to do it.”

Her Set List Will Span Her Entire Career

The set list is expected to span across her entire discography from her debut album, Kerosene, to her current project, Palomino.

When asked about her Vegas residency set list on Instagram, she revealed, “It’s still a work in progress ! I’m trying to figure out how to get from Kerosene to Palomino in the most artistic way possible.”

She Hopes To Include A Solo Acoustic Performance

“I wanna have some elements in the show that I’ve maybe never done before. Whether it’s a wardrobe change or like a couple of acoustic songs by myself,” the “If I Was A Cowboy” singer told ET Canada. “Vegas should be special, you know, I think, if people are going to fly all the way to Vegas and come to a show, it really needs to be special.”

Las Vegas residencies allow artists to incorporate a visually stunning production into their live show. While Lambert normally doesn’t have a crazy production on the road for her live shows, as she likes to keep her concerts about the music, she has plans to go big for her residency.

“I’m excited about the level of production we’re going to do, because we don’t do that a lot. Number one because logistics and number two I always want it to be about the music and there’s an element of that I’m going to stick with, but in Vegas, it’s like more sequins, more fire, don’t threaten me with a good time,” Lambert revealed in an interview with iHeartCountry’s Amy Brown. “So, I’m very excited about the creative process in making these songs come to life a little more on stage.”

The Concert Will Be Intimate And Feel Like A “Big Honky-Tonk”

With a capacity of only 7,000, the Las Vegas residency shows will be more intimate.

“The room is such a cool setup, it feels intimate, [and] I can see every face and I love that, because it felt like a big honky-tonk and that’s really my vibe,” Lambert added. “I’m very excited about the room and the way it sounded and the way it looked and there are so many possibilities for production that we don’t get to use when we’re moving it in trucks every night. So, I got a whole new world ahead of me creatively, which is exciting.”

For The First Time Ever, Lambert Will Have Wardrobe Changes

While Lambert has never had wardrobe changes during her live concerts, she will have a few during her Las Vegas residency.

“I think wardrobe changes are a part of Vegas, like that’s a thing, never done that before,” Lambert shared with iHeartCountry, before adding that she is “excited” to spice up her set with some costume changes.

She later added that she trusts her stylist’s judgement as she is her good friend and knows she will put together some amazing pieces.

“There are gonna be outfit changes and that will be something new for me,” Lambert teased. “My stylist @tiffanygiffordstyle is already on it “

Lambert added, “I’m from Texas, so bigger hair and more sequins…”

$1 Of Every Ticket Purchase Goes To The MuttNation Foundation

MuttNation Foundation is Lambert’s charitable organization that helps shine the spotlight on rescue animals and shelters, Lambert and her mom, Bev, founded the MuttNation Foundation in 2009 to ensure that as many dogs as possible would have a safe and happy place to call home.

“Anytime I can combine my two passions, music and mutts, it’s a blessing. We get to sing country music for a living, which is the best job in the world, but I always try to use the platform that I’ve built for good and for my heart it’s animals,” Lambert explained. “So, the fact that we can celebrate country music and come together and have a drink and a great night and also help some innocent animals that need our heart is a really cool thing to be able to do.”

Since launching in 2009, the foundation has donated over 6 million dollars.

All shows will begin at 8pm PST, and are on-sale now!
