Next month, a new casino will open in northern Nevada for the first time in over 20 years. Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas will also have newly announced enhancements. Record-breaking numbers from Del Mar racetrack and a massive jackpot from an Idaho casino are also featured on Friday Five.

Linda Jorgensen of Lewiston, Idaho won $1,541,533 at Clearwater River Casino & Lodge on 21 July. It's the largest jackpot won in the casino's history.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's return to thoroughbred horse racing at the California track was successful. The opening day brought in a sold-out house of 21,680 and the venue's capacity was limited. The three-day weekend Del Mar finished up with a daily average handle of $22.35 million.

Macau casinos are operating with 50% of their usual staff. MGM Resorts, Wynn Resort and Las Vegas Sands have all reported losses and seen their stocks falling. The city is on a lockdown due to travel restrictions from the Chinese government. It's time to renew gambling licenses and taxes on gaming revenue just went up.

Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa announced major changes to its dining and entertainment offerings. New concepts include Thai Restaurant Lotus of Siam, Greek restaurant Naxos Taverna, and an Oyster Bar. The third location of Lotus will open in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Legends Bay Casino Resort announced 30 August as the official public opening date for northern Nevada’s first new casino in over 20 years. The 80,000 square foot casino and dining destination will welcome the public for the first time at 8 p.m. on Friday, 2 September. Legends Bay will offer a dynamic loyalty program, LB Rewards, slot machines, video poker, live table games, keno, the region's only Circa Sports Sportsbook and a high-limit room.

Legends Bay Casino is opening on Tuesday, August 30th. There will be a grand opening celebration at 8 pm.
