A Wilmington man spent $5 on a Fast Play lottery ticket and scored a $154,166 jackpot win, according to a news release from the NC Education Lottery.

George Rongotes Jr. bought is ticket from the Ludas Social Club, a bar he owns, on Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington, according to the release.

Rongotes purchased his Double Win ticket on Jan. 3, when the jackpot stood at $308,332.

He received 50% of the progressive jackpot since he had purchased a $5 ticket. After state and federal tax withholdings, Rongotes took home $99,051 when he went to retrieve his prize on Thursday.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Fast Play jackpot currently was at $225,000. The jackpot is instantly growing and increases with each ticket sale until a winner is announced.
