LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tuesday marked on the Las Vegas Strip.

Tropicana Las Vegas closed its doors, bringing an end to the Rat Pack-era property.

The casino floor closed earlier at 3 a.m., as per , Bally's Corp. Workers could be seen carting gaming machines off the premises and into trucks parked outside.

Restaurant and hotel operations ended at noon, at which point employees will take part in the official locking of the hotel.

The Tropicana . The property covers a total of 35 acres, with two hotel towers and a set of bungalows, and the casino featured more than 600 slot machines and multiple table games.

Some of the employees have been with the Tropicana for more than 20 years, according to executives. over the last two weeks to thank them for their years of service.

Tropicana is closing to make room for a new baseball stadium proposed by the Oakland Athletics. A new resort is also expected to be built once planning for the stadium is finalized.

Bally's Corp. Chairman Kim Soo confirmed to News 3 that demolition is tentatively planned for October. It's still unclear if the company intends to implode the property.
