Toronto’s Newest Casino Announces Launch of Poker Room

Canada’s new and largest gaming facility, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto has recently announced that it will be launching its Poker Room later this summer. Also, its brand-new 400-room hotel will also commence operations with an August 1, 2023 launch date. The company said reservations for The Hotel are now open and can be booked.
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto kicked off work on June 20, 2023, and it boasts a collection of over 4,800 slots, 145 table games, numerous dining amenities, and a 3,800-space parkade. This was the first phase of its opening, with the poker room and hotel being next on the agenda. After that the resort will also open a premium 5,000-person live show venue.
What to Expect?
In its announcement, the company said that the new poker room will accommodate the local market’s poker player base. Once operational, it will offer 30 tables on a completely private floor with electronic table games and slots for those who are waiting for a spot. It will also feature ‘No Limit’ and ‘Limit’ at different levels, hence providing exciting playing options.
But for those who look for an elevated gambling experience, the poker will also come with four tables placed in a semi-private area. This exclusive section will cater to those who are fond of the higher stakes games and final table. Thus, providing an intimate area for discerning players. The new poker room should be up and running sometime in the summer.
Additionally, the launch of the poker room at the resort will enable further opportunities for poker enthusiasts at Great Blue Heron Casino. Then, both casinos will offer entry into some of the country’s largest poker tournaments. Also, with “Bad Beat” Jackpots connecting players from both properties, the two sites will be able to become a top destination for local and global poker fans.
Meanwhile, The Hotel will begin work on August 1, 2023, while offering 400 premium rooms making it suitable for both leisure and business guests. It will be located minutes away from Toronto Pearson Airport, while almost half of the rooms tout exceptional views of Woodbine Racetrack. The hotel will also feature a wellness area with fitness, an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a steam room.
In June 2023, the operator of the property, Great Canadian Entertainment, inked a partnership agreement with Live Nation Canada. Via the collaboration, the two bring world-class music and comedy show to the operator’s properties across the country. This deal is also set to benefit the company with its new casino in Toronto and its soon-to-launch The Theatre.
First Nation Speaks Against Casino
However, not everyone is happy with the new gaming location in Toronto, as Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation has recently expressed its discontent with it. The First Nation believes that it was unfairly treated by the province as it argued that the launch of the new casino could negatively impact its existing gaming operations and even threaten its very existence.
