Most gamblers dream of grabbing a nice six- or perhaps even seven-figure jackpot on that next trip to a casino. A recent visit to the Excalibur in Las Vegas for one lucky slot player upped that even more to eight figures.

The unidentified woman turned a $10 wager into a $12.2 million payday on a Megabucks machine. International Game Technology, the game’s manufacturer, was quick to trumpet the big win.

“It happened again!” the company noted on Twitter last week. "For the fourth time this year in Nevada, we’re crowning another Megabucks millionaire! A player at Excalibur Vegas hit a mind-blowing $12,185,766.40 jackpot playing Megabucks Triple Red Hot 7s Spitfire Multipliers slots!”

Excalibur Wields Major Jackpot Sword

The recent jackpot becomes just the latest major win at the MGM property, which has been known for delivering some mega payouts over the years. Just this year alone, the casino has handed out prizes of $14 million and $10.5 million.

The property also has the record for largest jackpot ever paid out. In 2003, a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles cashed in for $39.7 million after popping just $100 into a Megabucks machine.

In today’s dollars, that equates to more than $66 million. The newly-minted millionaire chose to receive his winnings in 25 annual installments. This means he’ll still be receiving payments through 2028.

Other Slot News – Squid Game & NFL

The slot industry has seen some other interesting headlines in recent weeks. In October, Netflix licensed a slot machin featuring one of its shows for the first time through a partnership with Light & Wonder. The Squid Game slot is now expected to hit casino floors beginning in 2024 after first appearing at the Global Gaming Expo.

NFL fans can also now play a slot featuring their favorite teams. After announcing a multi-year deal with the NFL, Aristocrat Gaming unveiled the first of several expected league-themed games in July.

The game includes gridiron-focused symbols and graphics like footballs, jerseys, and team logos as well as concession stand and tailgating items like buckets of popcorn, slices of pizza, and more. There are six fan-favorite stadium anthems and players can win as much as a $1 million progressive jackpot.
