New Jersey politicians are trying to pass a bill to ban smoking inside casinos. The casinos are worried about losing money. A study suggests they would take an 11% revenue haircut and have to lay off 2,500 employees. C3 Gaming says they wouldn't lose money and would make money anyway.   i.e. non-smoking properties perform better than those that continue to allow smoking. Gov. Phil Murphy has agreed to sign the bill.

At least 20 states have outright bans on smoking while gaming. Many casinos located in states where it's still allowed have imposed their own bans. New Jersey has some of the strictest anti-smoking laws in the country. The nine casinos in New York City have designated smoking areas. 72 out of 120 members of New Jersy's legislature are co-sponsoring a bill to ban smoking in casinos. The non-smokers' side is gaining support. Some managers are even backing the non smoking side. It's misleading to say 75% of casinos are nonsmoking.
