LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — This week, Arkansans all over the state were able to claim big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center.

Michael Koontz of Winslow was able to turn an 'unlucky' lottery ticket into a lucky one after he won $500,000 in ASL's Play it Again drawing held on October 26.

His ticket number was randomly selected from all of the eligible entries which players submitted from non-winning scratch-off tickets.

Koontz learned he was a winner after getting a phone call to notify him of his prize.

“I didn’t get too excited because I thought it was a scam and was waiting on the punch line," he explained. "I told my wife about the phone call, so she checked The Club website to see if my name was listed and called the lottery to confirm the win.

With his newfound wealth, Mr. Koontz said he plans to use it to pay bills and to go on a nice vacation.

A woman in North Little Rock is now also a winner after she played in the Natural State Jackpot.
